The Saudi Pro League is one of the football leagues that is rising in popularity. The wealthy owners of the local clubs have decided to invest in football in this country and managed to poach a number of football stars from some of the most popular clubs. The biggest star was the first one to join. Cristiano Ronaldo decided to come to the Saudi outfit Al-Nassr, which opened up the floodgates for other players to make the same jump.

For that reason, we are in for one of the most quality Suadi Pro League seasons. Clubs from this country already have a long tradition in Asia and represent the cream of the crop when it comes to football in the region. With the addition of so many quality players, we are expecting more fans, more goals and excitement, and of course, more need for a prime Suaid Pro League prediction.

Saudi Pro League Fixtures

The Saudi Pro League is one of the larger leagues in Asia. It consists of 18 teams which play one against each other twice in a round-robin system. So during the entire course of the season, a single team will play 34 games, accounting for a total of 578 games.

Besides the champion, the runner-up team of the league will earn a spot in the Asian Champions League, while the last three teams on the table will be relegated to First Division League.

The Suadi Pro League has persisted for 47 years now, having played their maiden season in 1976. Al-Hilal is the most successful team in the county, and they also won the first-ever championship after the Establishment of the professional league. However, entering the newest season, Al-Ittihad is the current champion, something that people making their first Suadi Pro League prediction should keep in mind.

Saudi Pro League Season Start and End Date

The excitement for the newest 2023/24 Saudi Pro League season starts on 11 August 2023. With all the investment in football and the hype surrounding new players, this will probably be one of the most quality seasons in Saudi football. The season is supposed to end on 27 May 2024, when the newest champion will be crowned.

At the same time, the King’s Cup will be held. It is one of the longest footballing competitions in Saudi Arabia, spanning 66 years. The Cup predates the professional Saudi football league and is a competition that is played in an elimination style manner. It brings 153 clubs from Saudi football for a chance to earn massive prizes and a guaranteed spot in the AFC Champions League.

Home teams protected their turf well, winning 46% of the time. Visitors were only able to win 33% of the time, while a split of points happened 21%.

1.5+ goals happened in 79% of matches. 2.5+ goals occurred in 55% of games. While 3.5+ goals were seen in 27% of games.

Saudi Pro League H2H Statistics

When it comes to results, we were able to see the three most prominent outcomes of games. 1:0, 2:1, and 2:0 were results that happened most of the time, each one accounting for 10% of games.

Al-Nassr may not have won the title, but they scored the most goals, 63 in total (2.10 a game). The champions Al-Ittihad scored 60 goals in their title-winning campaign (2.00 per game). While the biggest club in the country, Al-Hilal, finished third and scored 54 goals, only 1.80 a game.

Saudi Pro League Player Stats

There were already a lot of foreign players in the Saudi Pro League even before the shift from this year. So a lot of players deserve mention as top scorers, top assist makes, or even the best players in the league. The famed Majed Abdullah is the all-time top goalscorer of the league, having scored a total of 189 goals.

Saudi Pro League Past Winners

During the long history of Sudi professional football, there have been seven clubs crowned champions. But none other has been as successful as Al-Hilal. The Riyadh-based club has won 18 titles so far and has won three titles in a brown during the past four years.

The second most successful clubs are the current champion, Al-Ittihad, alongside Al-Nassr, with both sides having nine trophies to their name.

Year Winner Runner-up
2022/23 Al-Ittihad Al-Nassr
2021/22 Al-Hilal Al-Ittihad
2020/21 Al-Hilal Al-Shabab
2019/20 Al-Hilal Al-Nassr
2018/19 Al-Nassr Al-Hilal

Al-Ittihad was able to stop the three-year reign of Al-Hilal by winning the title last season. By winning the title, they simultaneously gained a spot in the Asian Champions League group stage as well as the Club World Cup.

Five points behind were Cristiano Ronaldo and Al-Nassr as they failed to pull an upset and dethrone Al-Hilal. Nevertheless, they too have earned a spot in the AFC Champions League play-off round, while the third-ranked Al-Hilal got a direct spot in the Champions League. Interestingly, the 11th-ranked Al-Fahya will also play in the Asian Champions League after lifting the King Cup for the first time in their history.

Al-Adalah and Al-Batin finished last and second to last so they will play in the First Division League next year. Al-Ahli, Al-Okhdood Al-Riyadh, and Al-Hazem will be the newest additions to the league as they expand the format to 18 clubs compared to last season.
