While changing of the guard is imminent in the Belgium national side, there are still a few players left from the golden generation. Lukaku, De Bruyne, and Vertonghen are still there. Player Profiles
Leading the Red Devils is Kevin De Bruyne. Arguably one of the best players in the Premier League will be the one to watch when Belgium plays. He contributes to the attack either by assisting or scoring himself. At the same time, he acts as a mentor to all youngsters that make up the Belgium 2024 Euro squad.
Even though Lukaku has been playing forever, he is still the top scorer in the Belgium national side. He hasn’t had the best of seasons with Roma, but he still knows how to score and he will certainly continue to do so at the Euros.

Latest News
It was recently made official that Thibaut Courtois will definitely miss out on Euro 2024. The Real Madrid shot-stopper initially departed from the Belgium squad due to disputes with coach Domenico Tedesco. Months later, he suffered an injury that kept him on the sidelines for the better part of the season.
Courtois has recovered since then and even featured in the Champions League final, helping his club lift their 15th UCL trophy. However, they decided against calling him back as Tedesco felt that he should go with the goalkeepers that helped them qualify for the competition.
Tactical Analysis
After successful stints at Spartak Moscow and RB Leipzig, Domenico Tedesco took Roberto Martínez’s place as Belgium national side manager. He immediately showed that he was the right man for the job as he led the Red Devils through the qualifiers without a loss and by allowing only four goals.
Playing Style and Formation
Tedesco transitions between a 4-3-3 and a 3-4-3 system. However, whenever De Bruyne is on the field, you can expect the more offensively-minded 4-3-3 system to be utilized. In either case, Romalu Lukaku should be the lone man out, with help provided by Trossard and either Bakayoko or Doku. Man City’s Jérémy Doku in particular should be an important asset for Tedesco’s team. He plays on the flank and contributes to the attack from a winger or an attacking wide position. He has pace for ages and would be interesting to see him paired with Loïs Openda in the attack.
Team History
Belgium is a team that had a legendary team in the 70s and 80s but then fell off the radar. They managed to get back to the top in recent times when they ranked constantly among the top 3 teams in FIFA rankings. Unfortunately, they have yet to capitalize on the talents that they have in their midst.

Belgium made six appearances so far at the Euros, with this being their 7th participation. On the other hand, they played 14 times at the World Cup, where they have had much more success.
