Group D Teams and Analysis
The greatest spectacle of all is the derby confronting the Netherlands and France. The Blues are by far one of the strongest teams in the whole world. The Netherlands may not be at the highest point in their games, but will surely try to show backbone against France. None of us could ever write off Poland and Austria, too.
Poland
Led by Robert Lewandowski, the Polish will try their hardest to achieve results that are better than before. They performed somewhat solidly at the latest World Cup as they got past the group stage but not past the Round of 16.
The qualifiers have also been turbulent for them. The Eagles didn’t have a straight path to the tournament. They occupied the third spot after three victories, three losses, and two draws.
After they got to the promotion qualifiers, Poland played one game against Estonia and won by 5:1. In the final game, the Biało-czerwoni defeated Wales by 1:0 and secured their spot in the group phase of Euro 2024.
Austria
The middle Europeans are no strangers to playing the Euro tournaments. In some instances, the Unsere Burschen did not move to the knockout stage. In contrast, the farthest they got was the Round of 16.
As this tells us that Austria is not the favourite in this group, such results by no means determine their ability to surprise all of us. In addition, the Austrians did pretty well in the qualifiers.
They went straight to this tournament after taking 19 points and ranking second in the group. In total, the Unsere Burschen won six games and lost and drew only one.
France
The toughest team in this group won as many as seven games in the qualifying group and tied for one. Some other teams may have had a similar performance. Yet, France had hard nuts to crack, such as the Netherlands, Greece, and Ireland.
It’s also interesting that France and the Netherlands will have a rematch in this group. The Blues beat Oranje both times during the qualifying period. For someone who took the second spot at the World Championship and did marvellously well in the qualifiers, all we can say is that we expect a lot from them.
Netherlands
The Dutch have a great and long tradition behind them in this sport. In reality, they never stopped investing in this sport nor did it drop its popularity in this country. Be it as it may, Oranje has had some harsh times in the recent period.
The latest Euro tournament wasn’t good for them as they only got to the Round of 16. Although the Netherlands performed much better in the World Championship, they bumped into the unstoppable Argentina and lost to them on penalties (4-3).
The road to the Group D Euro 2024 wasn’t easy for them, either. The key thing here was facing France. Aside from the two defeats the Dutch had against France, they were victorious in all other encounters.
Group D Predictions and Odds
France comes as a favourite to win this group, with odds of 1.53. The Netherlands follows with more than doubled odds of 3.80. Austria and Poland are a bit marginalised here.
The odds for both of them are far from those given for France and the Netherlands. So, we have Austria’s winning chances standing at 9.00 odds. The odds for Poland to win the group are big and lie at 11.00. Read more about Euro 2024 Group D Predictions from our experts.
