Germany vs Netherlands Prediction 1: Oranje involvement make goals play appealing
UEFA, Nations League, Monday, October 14th, 19:45 (UK)
This fixture has historically produced goals galore, with the last six head-to-heads seeing the back of the net hit a staggering 24 times with both teams scoring in each clash. If like me historical data isn’t a major factor, fear not as both nations have demonstrated their offensive prowess in recent outings.
Julian Nagelsmann has seen his men score nine goals in their three Nations League games so far. While the Netherlands have netted just one fewer and both teams opened their campaign by smashing five past their respective opponents before sharing four goals in the reverse meeting in Amsterdam.
The absence of Virgil van Dijk due to suspension could provide another avenue for the German attack, who also had three goals ruled out by VAR in the Bosnia match. The Dutch clearly have vulnerabilities in their backline but also know their hosts are far from watertight having conceded in three of their last four internationals. They looked ill at ease on several occasions against a 38-year-old Edin Džeko led Bosnian outfit.
The landscape of Group 3 does make this something of a winner takes all battle leading to the likelihood of an even more expansive game. In-form striker Deniz Undav is grasping his opportunity with both hands and will have his eye on more goals while the dangerous Dutch attack have only failed to score in one of their last 22 internationals.
Considering these factors, I wouldn’t put anyone off backing over 2.5 goals and both teams to score. However, my preference is for the goal line which at 3.0 appears well within reach and at bigger odds of 1.950. Four goals are needed for the win but if there were to be only three the bet would be void and a full refund returned.
- Germany vs Netherlands Prediction 1: Over 3.0 Goal Line (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.950

Germany vs Netherlands Prediction 2: Dutch and go if Netherlands can survive German efficiency
Back on home soil I can’t pass up the opportunity to back Germany at odds of 1.80. They are worthy favourites and the added incentive to put a five point gap between themselves and the Netherlands can’t be overstated.
Die Mannschaft boasts an impressive record of just one loss in nine Nations League internationals on home soil and their fans will undoubtedly become a 12th man against their fierce rivals. Recent form also favours Julian Nagelsmann’s side.
Unbeaten over 90 minutes across 12 internationals they will take heart from such a positive showing at this summer’s European Championship which they hosted. The emergence of Stuttgart’s Undav with three goals in five appearances has crucially taken the strain of being without Kai Havertz and Jamal Musiala.
Having Jonathan Tah reunited with Antonio Rüdiger provides more reassurance at the back even if it means more confidence to outscore the visitors. In contrast the absence of Virgil van Dijk after his red card against Hungary is a hammer blow for Ronald Koeman.
Despite their strong record in both European Championships and World Cups the Germans have disappointed in this competition. Nagelsmann will be desperate to get his hands on his first piece of silverware as national manager and it is that motivation which makes the hosts even better value to get the win here.
- Germany vs Netherlands Prediction 2: Germany to win (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.80
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 9/10
Germany vs Netherlands Prediction 3: No Need for a Reijn Check – Shot Forecast is Bang on Target!
Tijjani Reijnders has emerged as a key player for the Netherlands in their UEFA Nations League campaign, and there’s strong evidence to suggest he’ll continue his impressive form with at least one shot on target against Germany. The AC Milan midfielder has been a consistent threat, registering an impressive 11 shots across his three Nations League appearances and found the net in the opening two fixtures of the campaign.
The 26-year-old’s ability to impact games was on full display in the reverse fixture against Germany last month, where he opened the scoring after just two minutes. Even in a deeper role, he managed to influence the attack, demonstrating his versatility and eye for goal.
While he didn’t score in the recent match against Hungary, Reijnders still fired off a match high five attempts at goal, with one finding the target. This consistency in getting shots away, regardless of the opposition, bodes well for his chances against Germany.
He should get opportunities to take aim here in what should be another open attacking fixture. Despite being ranked 75th in FIFA’s world rankings Bosnia managed 8 shots in last week’s clash with Ivan Basic having one of them from his central midfield role. A role which will be similar to that Reijnders will occupy in Munich.
- Germany vs Netherlands Prediction 3: Tijjani Reijnders over 0.5 shots on target (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 2.20
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 8/10

Germany vs Netherlands Injuries, Team News and Possible Lineups: Teaser
Germany look set to be without both Aleksandar Pavlovic and Chris Führich after picking up injuries in the warm up and during a brief substitute cameo appearance respectively. Jamal Musiala and Kai Havertz are already confirmed absentees. Oliver Baumann is expected to start in goal, as part of what appears to be a pre-planned goalkeeping rotation with Alexander Nübel. At the other end of the pitch Tim Kleindienst and Jonathan Burkardt battle it out to lead the line. Burkardt may be given the opportunity to impress this time around.
The Netherlands, meanwhile, face significant defensive issues. The suspension of captain Virgil van Dijk is a major blow with Matthijs de Ligt his likely deputy. Ronald Koeman has limited options at left-back and as a result, Micky van de Ven is expected to be deployed in this unfamiliar position once again.
Germany possible starting lineup:
Nübel, Kimmich, Tah, Rüdiger, Mittelstädt, Groß, Andrich, Wirtz, Undav, Gnabry, Burkardt
Netherlands possible starting lineup:
Verbruggen, Dumfries, de Ligt, de Vrij, Van de Ven, Timber, Gravenberch, Reijnders, Simons, Gakpo, Zirkzee.
Match OPTA Stats: Teaser
- Only England (2110) have attempted more passes than Germany’s 1813
- Netherlands have conceded exactly once in five of their last six Nations League away games
- With 11 Tijjani Reijnders has had more shots than any other player in League A3
- Netherlands are unbeaten in their last seven Nations League away games
