Fulham vs Tottenham Prediction - Premier League
Josh Ingram is here to look at a fixture between two London clubs who come into this with polar opposite feelings towards their season in this Fulham vs Tottenham prediction betting preview.
Fulham have much to look forward to with a FA Cup quarter-final and an outside shot at European football. Meanwhile, Tottenham are stranded below mid-table with no chance of pulling up any trees in the league. The Cottagers oversaw a hard-earned point last time out against Spurs and battered them 3-0 in this exact game last March. Spurs need to start showing some resolve on the pitch to get positive results, as they have lacked as much for a long time. It’s hard to see where that comes from as they languish in 13th, eight points behind Fulham.
Fulham vs Tottenham Prediction: Marco Silva’s men on the march
England, Premier League, Sunday, March 16th, 13:30 (UK)
When looking at this game, I wanted to take on Spurs. I’ve attempted this repeatedly over recent weeks. The away trip to AZ Alkmaar perfectly summarised their season. It was a totally abject performance, considering they had eight days to prepare. The fight back against Bournemouth was positive, but they should have been three or four nil down when Sarr’s overhit cross went in off the post. In the opening minutes, Bournemouth suffocated them and should have scored twice. Spurs are 13th for a multitude of reasons, and realistically, they are too far off the pace for Europe, whereas Fulham couldn’t be any more motivated, residing just five points off of fifth.
The 98th-minute penalty to lose 2-1 away at Brighton hurt Fulham, who had been on a pretty good run before that. Fulham have been impressive for the whole of Marco Silva’s reign, but particularly so this season. The Cottagers at home are consistent across the board, with five wins, five draws and four losses. However, they have struggled against the bottom half of the table throughout the season at home.
This Tottenham team have lost seven at home and seven away. Of course, injuries have decimated them, but when a team is restricted as much as Spurs have been, it does then fall upon Ange Postecglu for refusing to tweak his system. If he had tried to accommodate the players he had at his disposal and made them harder to beat, they might have been able to get some more positive results. The Australian in the dugout has refused to do this every time he has been asked about this. Ultimately, this has cost him and could mean he loses his job if he doesn’t win the Europa League.
When looking at the numbers, Tottenham are conceding 1.54 xG per game away from home and conceding 1.15 goals a game. They are scoring a fair number of goals this season, 55 in total, an average of 1.96. Their problems arise, though, when they face teams in the top ten. Against good-quality opposition, they get caught out in the 14 games against the top ten. They have lost ten and won just two. When going into the minutiae of these losses, away, they have won once and lost six against the top ten so far. The only team with a worse record than that is the bottom three. That is a truly damning statistic for Spurs this season.
Fulham possesses so much talent in attacking areas to hurt any team, especially a leaky Spurs defence. Raul Jimenez reached the ten-goal mark with his astute finish after an impressive assist from Iwobi, who sprinted most of the pitch with the ball on the right-hand side. The Mexican has led the line in exemplary fashion this season when called upon and is showing the class he had when he was at his best for Wolves. The ability to create chances is a hard task in the Premier League, but Fulham has creators across the team. Especially Antoniee Robinson, who leads the team with 10 assists, and Alex Iwobi, who leads the team with expected assists with 5.42, the seventh-best in the Premier League.

Potential three at the back for Fulham and hamstring injuries plaguing Spurs
A notable loss for Fulham is Sasa Lukic, who accumulated ten yellow cards. He has served one game of his ban against Brighton; this will be the second. The Serbian has been a real enforcer in the middle, averaging 2.5 tackles a game and breaking up play. It’s not clear if Traore will be fit enough to start in this one, but he could potentially be back on the bench that has had a lot of youngsters present in recent weeks. After the international break, there is a potential for long-term absentee Kenny Tete, as well as Harry Wilson, to return. Both will be a valuable addition to the squad in the final run-in in what might be a memorable season for the Cottagers.
Injuries at centre-back have been a real issue for Tottenham all season, and this week has produced another injury, with Kevin Danso possibly missing this with a potential hamstring injury. Hamstring injuries have plagued Spurs defenders as they are asked to do so many sprints a game back to their own goal due to the high line that is deployed by Ange. Out of the players missing, Dejan Kulusevski is the one who really hurts this team when he is out. The Swede is one of the few players who can hold his head high during this season. His creativity will be missed – the void it leaves will be evident on the weekend.
Fulham possible starting lineup:
Leno; Diop, Andersen, Bassey; Castagne, Berge, Pereira, Robinson; Smith Rowe, Iwobi; Jimenez
Tottenham possible starting lineup:
Vicario; Porro, Romero, van de Ven, Spence; Maddison, Bissouma, Sarr; Johnson, Solanke, Son
Match Stats: Lack of Clinical forwards between the two
- Fulham beat Spurs convincingly in this one almost a year to the day 3-0 thanks to a Rodrigo Muniz brace.
- Spurs were lucky to get the point last time out between these two, with Fulham dominating proceedings, accumulating 1.58xg to just Spurs 0.78xG.
- This fixture only contains one player to reach double figures this season, which is Raul Jimenez with 10. Spurs have Maddison and Johnson with nine each.
