AFCON Betting Tips - Ivory Coast vs Egypt Game Preview
The 2022 Africa Cup of Nations continues with a derby matchup between trophy contenders Ivory Coast and Egypt. Based on our previous AFCON betting tips, these two nations are among the main contenders for winning the title. But faith wanted it for them to meet as early as the round of 16. So after this game, we are going to be one AFCON favourite short.
Ivory Coast had a much more convincing group stage performance as they ended up in first place. On the other hand, the Pharaos struggled a bit, but still managed to end in second place in Group D.

Egypt came to AFCON 2022 as one of the tournament favourites. But they failed to live up to expectations as they lost in the very first match against Nigeria by 1:0. They recovered from the loss by recording two wins. However, winning by 1:0 both against Sudan and Guinea Bissau, who are by all means not considered as football powerhouses, showed they still need to up their form.

Egypt boasts a winning record against the Elephants. Out of 21 previous games, the Pharaohs have won 11 times but still lost seven games. Three matches ended up without a winner.
The most recent game between the two was a friendly match which Ivory Coast won by 4:2. Before that, Egypt recorded three wins and a single draw versus Côte d’Ivoire. What is important to consider is that all three wins were managed at previous AFCON competitions.
The last time Egypt eliminated Ivory Coast from the Africa Cup of Nations was in 2008 when the Pharaohs won by 4:1 with a brace coming from Amr Zaki.

Ivory Coast was a much more prolific team as they finished the group stage with a 6:3 scoring record. Earning a total of seven points to top their group. Actually, the Ivorians share the second spot in terms of goal scoring efficiency with Nigeria. They are only beaten by hosts Cameroon who has scored seven goals so far.
Arsenal winger, Nicolas Pépé, is the most efficient member of Patrice Beaumelle’s squad as he has scored two goals.
Egypt’s current lacklustre performance is displayed through its efficiency. With a 2:1 goal average, which was enough to secure them only the second spot in their group stage, they are lagging behind the competition.
They haven’t scored much but also didn’t allow too many goals. But the two games that they won were against outsiders while their lone loss came against one of the tournament’s favourites Nigeria. Much more has been expected from Mohamed Salah, who only scored a single goal. It was the game-winner against Guinea Bissau.

Based on their current performance, Ivory Coast is a clear favourite (2.38). A lot of people think that Egypt has yet to show their true face. If you are one of them you can benefit a lot by placing a bet on them to win at 4.20.
We do think that both teams are going to go at it and score at least a goal. So for both of them to bag in a goal the odds are 3.80. Not a bad market to consider.
