Welcome to our Strasbourg vs Brest prediction preview from Le Stade Meinau in eastern France. Liam Rosenoir has got this Strasbourg team firing and on the edge of the European places. Can they continue their good run against a Brest side who were thoroughly humiliated by PSG in the Champions League, losing 7-0 in midweek and 10-0 on aggregate.
France, Ligue 1, Sunday, February 23rd, 16:15 (UK)
Brest have just been embarrassed by PSG in the Champions League after suffering a 0-7 defeat in midweek and going out 10-0 on aggregate. Head coach Eric LeRoy fielded a weakened XI in Paris and paid the price as they got absolutely obliterated. There is now a lot of pressure on them to perform in this match and also the upcoming Coupe de France quarter final vs Dunkerque in midweek. That in itself could be a distraction and the Brittany outfit might be wise to have more focus on the cup because a trip to Strasbourg is far from easy at the moment.
Les Alsatians are absolutely flying and up to seventh position in the table. They are an ambitious club, well backed and definitely heading in the right direction. Young English manager Liam Rosenoir has grown into the role here in eastern France and created an excellent environment for this youngish squad to thrive. Strasbourg have the sixth best home record in Ligue 1 with 6 wins out of 10 and only one defeat (to Monaco). They are right up there in the form table with 6 wins out of 8 and the only defeat in that run was away to a Rennes side who experienced a new manager bounce. Strasbourg can be backed at 2.0 to win again here which looks a perfectly acceptable price facing a wounded, tired and embarrassed Brest side. The visitors could show a reaction but this is a nice time to face them and Strasbourg are quite simply the better side at the moment anyway.

Andrew Omobamidele is doubtful with injury after coming off the field early last week. Abakar Sylla came on and had a great match replacing him and will probably get the nod here. Strasbourg will have to do without midfielder Andrey Santos who is suspended. That could pave the way for Sebastian Nanasi to drop deeper and a chance for Dilane Bakwa to come into the side. He played 25 mins off the bench last week on return after a 4 game injury layoff.
Brest made several changes in midweek when they lost 0-7 away to PSG. The likes of Bizot, Ajorque, Sima and LeCardinal were all on the bench but should return to the XI here. Kenny Lala was ill in midweek but likely to return. Brest do have injury concerns to Romain Del Castillo and Jordan Amavi though.
Strasbourg possible starting lineup:
Petrovic, Sarr, Sylla, Doue, Barco, Nanasi, Diarra, Moreira, Bakwa, Lemarechel, Emegha
Brest possible starting lineup:
Bizot, Haidara, LeCardinal, Lala, Magnetti, Lees-Melou, Camara, Sima, Ajorque, Faivre
