Brest vs Reims Prediction - Ligue 1 Fixtures
French expert Steve Wyss is here to deliver the best Brest vs Reims prediction preview from Western France this Sunday. Brest enjoyed themselves in the Champions League this season but their league form became inconsistent as a result. Now, with no further distractions they will expect to beat a Reims side who are in total freefall.
Brest vs Reims Prediction: Brest to pile further misery on struggling Reims
France, Ligue 1, Sunday, March 16th, 16:15 (UK)
Brest will struggle to repeat their heroics of last season in which they qualified for the Champions League, but could yet still be a dark horse in the top six race. For the majority of the campaign they surprised everyone by progressing to the playoff round of the Champions League which definitely affected their domestic form. They also had a Coupe de France distraction but they can now focus solely on Ligue 1 matters. Eric Roy’s side have generally been excellent at home winning 7 times out of 12. They comfortably beat Angers 2-0 last week which was their first win in 7 matches (all competitions) and should be confident of adding to that mark here against arguably worse opponents.
Reims are in a shocking state of form. They have lost 6 consecutive Ligue 1 games and have not won since 10th November. They do have a semi final to look forward to in the Coupe de France but this is a team in absolute freefall and suddenly at major risk of relegation. The squad was weakened during the January transfer window, especially defensively and sacking manager Luka Elsner has not worked. New boss Samba Diawara is not getting any tune out of these players and there are rumours that Reims might look at a different replacement during the next international window. It is really difficult to see Brest not winning the game so backing them on a -0.75 Asian handicap line at odds-against looks massive. They are much the better side, a genuine top ten club who could be facing a team that ultimately gets relegated.

Brest vs Reims Injuries, Team News and Possible Lineups Prediction: Sima doubt for Brest
Brest left winger Abdallah Sima left the field before half time last week with injury and looks set to miss this game. Romain Faivre should come into the starting XI and will play on either the left or right wing. Brest should lineup in their usual 4-3-3 formation and captain Brendan Chardonnet is expected to be fit to lead the team.
Reims have been struggling so there could be some changes to the starting XI. However, manager Samba Diawara does lack options. He has been using a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 system in his 7 games in charge so that seems unlikely to change. Amadou Kone should come into the side in midfield because that was an area in which they were very poor last week.
Brest possible starting lineup:
Bizot, Haidara, Le Cardinal, Chardonnet, Lala, Faivre, Magnetti, Lees-Melou, Pereira Lage, Camara, Ajorque
Reims possible starting lineup:
Diouf, Akieme, Gbane, Okumu, Hiroki, A. Kone, Atangana Edoa, Nakamura, Teuma, Ito, Diakite
