We bring you our Leicester vs Brentford predictions preview courtesy of Scott Thornton ahead of their Friday night encounter in the Premier League.
The Foxes are 19th in the table and look set to return to the second tier barring a miraculous turnaround. Ruud Van Nistelrooy has been unable to get his team singing from the same hymn sheet following a positive start to life at the King Power Stadium. Brentford are 11th but European football appears unlikely. The Bees have failed to win consecutive league games this season but they have the chance to set that record straight on Friday night.

England, Premier League, Monday, March 30th, 20:00 (UK)
Leicester began the season with Steve Cooper at the helm. They sacked him after a run of five matches without a win back in November, leaving the team 16th in the league. However, with 13 games remaining, that gamble doesn’t appear to have paid off. The Foxes are 19th heading into matchday 26, two points from safety.
Since Van Nistelrooy took charge, Leicester have won just two of their 12 Premier League matches, losing nine. The Dutchman was a lethal striker in his playing days but he has struggled to get his team firing. The Foxes are averaging just 0.75 goals per league game with Ruud in charge. They have failed to score in their last five matches in front of their own fans so we are backing the away side to come away with the win here.
The underlying data also makes for grim reading if you’re a Leicester fan. Their average xG of 0.95 per game is the second worst in the Premier League with only Ipswich faring worse by that metric. The Foxes’ average of 3.08 shots on target per game is the lowest in the Premier League. This number decreases to three per game if we only factor in the data from Van Nistelrooy’s tenure.
Leicester have also conceded the second-most goals in the division with an average of 2.2 per game, 0.8 less than Southampton. They have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of Van Nistelrooy’s league games to this point. Their opponents are scoring 2.44 goals per game during that period.
Brentford didn’t secure their first away win of the season in the Premier League until January but they are now on a run of three straight wins on the road. Thomas Frank’s side beat West Ham 1-0 last time out, finishing the game with 0.84 more xG than their opponents. Their recent performances away from home suggest they have what it takes to get the job done against Leicester. The Bees beat the Foxes 4-1 earlier in the reverse fixture.
James Justin picked up an injury in the defeat against Arsenal and is unlikely to feature here. Ricardo Pereira is also absent with a hamstring injury. Facundo Buonanotte came off the bench to play against Arsenal but Van Nistelrooy could opt to start him here as he searches for more creativity in the Leicester ranks.
Sepp Van Den Berg came off at the hour mark in the win over West Ham. He was replaced by Ethan Pinnock, who could be in line to start here. Rico Henry, Joshua Dasilva, Gustavo Nunes, Aaron Hickey and Igor Thiago are also sidelined for the visitors.
Leicester possible starting lineup:
Hermansen; Coulibaly, Faes, Okoli, Kristiansen; Ndidi, Soumare, Buonanotte, El Khannouss, Ayew; Vardy
Brentford possible starting lineup:
Flekken; Ajer, Collins, Pinnock, Lewis-Potter; Norgaard, Janelt, Damsgaard; Mbuemo, Schade, Wissa
