Brentford vs Chelsea Prediction
It’s Brentford vs Chelsea on Sunday afternoon. Both teams will be desperate to turn their home and away form around. Eight points separate these two London clubs as we head into the latter stages of the Premier League campaign.
Thomas Frank’s men faced defeat in the reverse fixture at Stamford Bridge. Enzo Maresca’s side are well in contention for a top-four spot. Every game is vital. This clash could provide some entertainment on Sunday afternoon in the capital.
Brentford vs Chelsea Prediction: Lacklustre Form Could Lead To Goals
England, Premier League, Sunday, April 6th, 14:00 (UK)
Brentford’s home results in recent weeks have been underwhelming, to say the least. Thomas Frank’s side haven’t won here since early December and have scored four times in seven consecutive Premier League matches. It’s a total contrast from the almost immaculate home form they displayed at the beginning of the campaign.
The hosts haven’t struggled in terms of goals. Five sides have bagged a more significant number. Brentford have shipped 47 goals in 30 outings, a figure only worsened by the bottom five clubs. Earning maximum points this weekend is undoubtedly achievable. Frank will demand a successful end to the campaign despite a tricky schedule.
Champions League football is well within reach for Chelsea. Several clubs are battling it out as we head into the home stretch. Enzo Maresca’s men have lost each of their previous five away matches in this competition. Cole Palmer has gone seven without a goal contribution. The Blues welcome Spurs on Thursday night, we do not know the result at the time of writing.
Chelsea face Liverpool, Newcastle, Man United and Forest in their final four Premier League matches. That’s a difficult fixture list. They’re heavy favourites to win the Europa Conference League. The season is far from over. Performances and results must improve. Chelsea will arrive here as favourites despite their troubling away form.
These two sides are struggling for positive results at home and away, respectively. Favouring either in the market is a struggle. The London clubs have accumulated 11 clean sheets in 59 matches this term. Brentford has yet to earn a shutout at home this season, whilst 12 of 15 teams have scored when hosting Maresca’s men. Leaning towards an angle supporting goals could be the best approach.
Four players have bagged more goals than Bryan Mbeumo this term. Those are Salah, Haaland, Isak and Chris Wood. Yoane Wissa has notched 14, two less than his counterpart. The duo can cause havoc on Sunday afternoon.
An impressive 48 goals have arrived in Chelsea’s 15 away days. It’s fair to say that they stuttered over the Christmas period and looked lost for ideas at the Emirates three weeks ago. Nicolas Jackson should be back for this encounter after picking up an injury in early February.
Goals are favoured by the markets. I struggle to see how either side escapes with a clean sheet. The numbers speak for themselves. Cole Palmer is not at his brilliant best, but he could quite easily pick himself up and put on a fine display at the G-Tech. This venue is where travelling sides have enjoyed their time since the festive season.
Chelsea have struggled with the man between their sticks for a while now. Robert Sanchez has looked shaky frequently this term. He’s made five errors that have led to a goal, a worrying statistic. Mark Flekken at the opposite end hasn’t cost his side a goal in 24/25. The Dutchman has made more saves than anyone else, with 124. He’ll be busy, there’s no doubt about that.
I’m happy to base my selection on a pro-goals market. The Asian Line appeals. Both clubs will fancy their chances of claiming maximum points, and with that said, I’m confident the attacking talent on the pitch can cause one another’s defence problems. It’s a selection that won in this fixture here last year.
