Belgium played Canada in their first game of the tournament. Even though they started off with a win, it was not as convincing as Roberto Martinez would have wished. With Romelu Lukaku absent, the Red Devils failed to create many scoring chances.
Canada actually had the better of the game and produced 22 goal attempts throughout the match as opposed to only six that Belgium had. Morocco faced Croatia in their inaugural match. Being that they were playing against the runner up nation from the previous championship, they were slanted for a massive loss. However, the Atlas Lions gave it their all and drew a point against the Blazers in a match without goals and any big opportunities.
