Tied with Monaco for the best record in the EuroLeague at the time of writing, it’s no surprise Olympiacos are heavy favourites against Bayern Munich. The team from Bavaria have struggled mightily on the road this season, while the hosts have claimed wins in eight of their nine games at the Peace and Friendship Stadium in Piraeus.

A win for Olympiacos on Friday could see them claim lone possession of top spot if Monaco lose to Barcelona on Thursday.

Bet365 prices Olympiacos as a 9.5-point favourite, despite Barcelona winning away to Paris in the last round of EuroLeague fixtures.

Olympiacos vs Bayern Munich Prediction and Picks: Backing the Favourites

  • Selection: Olympiacos -9.5
  • Best Odds: 1.83
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stakes: 10/10

Bayern Munich have lost three of their last four EuroLeague games by double digits. They also fell to Alba Berlin at the weekend and don’t have a defence capable of containing a high-octane Olympiacos offence.

Led by Sasha Vezenkov, Olympiacos are a very hard team to slow down. They have enough perimeter shooting and shot creating to drag this Bayern defence all over the floor. We could see them running away with this game in the first half to improve on their 8-1 home record in this competition.

Olympiacos News, Injury Report, Schedule: Eight in a Row

Winners of eight games in a row across all competitions, Olympiacos are absolutely flying. Their offence ranks third in the EuroLeague with their ball movement picking holes in any defence.

You have to go back to the middle of December for the last time Georgios Bartzokas’s team lost a game.  Even with a chance Evan Fournier is forced to sit this game out after missing practice earlier in the week, Olympiacos have enough talent to blow Bayern away.

Bayern Munich News, Injury Report, Schedule: Recent Struggles

Losers to Alba Berlin and Real Madrid in their last two outings, Bayern Munich have lost three of their last four in the EuroLeague. While still holding a playoff spot, pressure is mounting and this is the kind of difficult road game they could do without right now.

An above—average offence and below-average defence works out to a subpar net rating. Bayern are only a mediocre rebounding team and turn the ball over far too often (15.5% of possessions).

There’s little confidence to be taken from Bayern’s recent performances in domestic or continental competition. They are overmatched.

Olympiacos vs Bayern Munich H2H: Greek Dominance

Olympiacos had won seven games in a row against Bayern Munich prior to their meeting in the EuroLeague in October. It was Bayern’s first win against the Greek team since 2020.

Bayern have never made it beyond the quarter-finals of the EuroLeague and finished 15th last season. Olympiacos placed third in 2023-24 – they are three-time champions and six-time runners-up.
