Friday Night Football Acca Tips: March 11th

After a packed midweek football schedule on the continent, I’ve got Friday night acca tips this week. The beautiful game (and the subsequent treble) goes on a whistle-stop tour of Madrid, Northern France and West Bromwich.

Atletico Madrid vs Cadiz Best Bet

We’re seeing a different Atlético Madrid compared to years gone by. The structurally sound and resolute Diego Simeone-inspired compactness has weaned. La Liga still has the pleasure of viewing the Argentinian orchestrating from the dugout, albeit to a different tune.

Atléti leads La Liga in the Over 2.5 goals standings this season, with 18 of 27 games witnessing as much. On their travels, 86% of Atléti’s away matches have landed Over 2.5 goals for punters.

It’s a far cry from the low-scoring spectacles usually offered up under Simeone’s tenure in the Spanish capital. The 1.90 price for Over 2.5 goals is tempting, but with question marks around Cadiz’s input, I’m looking elsewhere.

Friday’s hosts have hit a run of form, winning their last three, including a spirited showing against Real Betis. In each of those three games, Atléti scored in both halves. Making the sample size a tad bigger, Simeone’s men registered a goal in each half in 7 of 10 recent fixtures.

For the Wanda Metropolitano outfit to strike in both halves, William Hill’s 2.30 is certainly eye-catching. The safer play here, however, would be the 1.80 for either side to bag in each half. Both halves witnessing goalmouth action has landed in 9 of 10 for Atléti, bar the 1-0 Levante loss.

Lille vs Saint-Etienne Best Bet

Saint-Étienne hired Pascal Dupraz just before Christmas. The former-Caen head honcho was tasked with the job of beating the drop, an assignment seemingly right on track.

On arrival, Dupraz’s new club had only managed two wins all season and had just endured four consecutive defeats. Fast forward to March, there’s a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel. Winning three of their last five fixtures, losing just once to PSG, Dupraz’s Saint-Étienne dragged themselves into 17th.

Now sitting outside of the relegation places, expect Les Verts to continue scrapping. Analysing the results since Dupraz entered the fray, Saint-Étienne would be 10th in Ligue 1 during this timeframe.

With Lille likely having one eye on Chelsea’s upcoming Champions League visit, Saint-Étienne may get some joy. Lille’s home form has welcomed BTTS in 8 of 13 displays. Saint-Étienne, on the other hand, oversaw 7 in 13. In Saint-Étienne’s last five fixtures, BTTS has landed on four occasions.

The 1.91 available is something I can get on board with, especially given the prospect of a resurgent away side.

West Brom vs Huddersfield Best Bet

The Championship’s take on Friday night football ushers us to the midlands. Two sides at completely different ends of the form table meet in an important encounter in the automatic promotion stakes.

However, it’s not all doom and gloom for Steve Bruce’s Baggies. A 2-0 win on the weekend, Bruce’s first at West Brom, is a step in the right direction.

Unlike West Brom, the Terriers haven’t lost since November in the Championship. The kind of form on display in West Yorkshire suggests this is a team that will take some stopping.

The visitors are unbeaten in 16 Championship games, up against a beleaguered West Brom side. Furthermore, Huddersfield managed to claim three points in 5 of 8 most recent away fixtures.

The 3.50 available at Skybet appears far too generous, and one I’m willing to back. If feeling a little more adventurous, the 5.00 for Huddersfield to knick a win also presents value.
